If you are like most, your nursery is definitely not the largest room in the house and small space decorating always poses a challenge to keep things uncluttered. Diapers, toys, baby gear, clothing and wipes can quickly take over a room unless all items have their own, easy to access home.
If you plan the nursery and really put some organization tips to use, you will find your chaotic day will run a little smoother. No, an uncluttered room won't stop the crying, screaming or sleepless nights but it will grant you a more peaceful feeling every time you enter it.

Cabinets - Baby furniture is not the only option when it comes to decorating your nursery. A buffet cabinet or anything sturdy with doors, shelves, cubby holes and drawers is your best option. The more places you have to put things, the less items will end up accumulating in piles on the dresser, changing table, etc.
Containers - Make use of as many containers as you need. You will find that you can buy stacks of plastic containers for a couple of dollars and even large Tupperware containers or shoe boxes can keep socks, toys and other odds and ends organized. Again, give everything a home and help it find its way back there every time.
Changing Table - Organize your changing table so items that get used the most are most accessible to you. Sure, you want everything to look perfect but if it works for you to keep a stack of diapers up on top rather than tucked in a drawer, put them in a nice container with a lid. This applies to lotions, baby powder, etc. too. Does your baby squirm so much that things get knocked over? Group them all together in one large container and you will have less things to clean up, thereby allowing you to get on with your day.
Décor - Don't overdo it on the decor unless you really have a lot of room to house the extra knickknacks, stuffed animals, etc. If you must have these things in the room, put up a few shelves and make use of wall space. There are even easy corner shelves that don't require any nails. Keep in mind, an abundance of things in a small area immediately looks and feels cluttered, even if everything is nice and neat.
Clothing - Babies grow so fast and often smaller tops get mixed in with larger bottoms and then pretty soon you're digging through drawers to find an outfit. Why not label your drawers so you're more likely to put clean clothes back in the same spot and once your baby grows out of something, get it out of the drawer and free up some space.
General Tips - Organize your nursery to work for you. You may also want to keep hand sanitizer in there. Anything you can do to save a few seconds makes your day a little less hectic.
The best thing about a nursery is the baby - your baby. Set up the room for comfort and convenience. It is important to be able to enjoy every baby minute.
